Story Problems
When I dropped Tyton off at school this morning, he started to put his backpack on, but then reached into the pocket, pulled out a piece of paper, gave me a hug and our secret handshake and then jumped out of the car. I watched him go inside the school, then I looked at the paper he'd handed me.
It looked like Tyton was asked to write a couple of story problems in his first grade math class. As I read through the school work, I started laughing pretty hard.
"There is one python and three people. The python killed one person. How many people are left? 3-1=2"
I thought that one was pretty funny. I was trying to imagine what his teacher must have thought when she read through it. Plus, the picture he drew was awesome. I mean, c'mon. A dude hanging out of the python's mouth? Genius.
Then I flipped the page over and read the other one:
"There were two daddy long legs, each daddy long leg had eight legs... until a person came along and took 5 off each daddy long leg. How many legs are left? 16-10=6"
I wish he'd had time to draw a picture for the daddy long leg story.

Windstar Injury
Our family van had been making weird sounds for a while. I promised Betsy the other day that I would drive it around and try to figure out if it was something I could fix (not likely) or if I needed to take it in to get fixed. I forgot to look at it.
Then Betsy called me at about 2:30 pm and said she was leaving the gas station when the front driver side tire shot the car and rolled across 5 lanes of traffic to the other side of the street.
Then, while she was waiting for me to get there, some white-trash bungholes pulled over and tried to steal the tire. Luckily, Santa Claus's twin was buying some Camels at the Chevron and ran across the street to save the day. He almost came to blows with the bungholes in his attempt to retrieve our tire.
It was sad. Our family van is at the doctor right now and we think she's gonna make it.
